The "Hösel" needle holder has a total length of 21 cm. The particularly long handle branches create a large leverage effect, allowing the needle holder to be operated with little effort. The 2 mm thick jaw allows thread sizes from 2-0 to 4-0 to be used. In addition, the jaw is fitted with carbide inserts (TC inserts) to make it particularly resistant to abrasion and to hold the needle securely without twisting. Another special feature is the ratchet, which has been moved inwards to prevent the glove from becoming trapped. The spring of the instrument is located between the branches.

At 200 mm, this model is the longest version in the "Mayo-Hegar" range. The long lever created by the length of the handle makes it easy to operate the needle holder. In combination with the ring handle, the instrument is very comfortable to use and is particularly suitable for use in the posterior areas of the mouth. The carbide inserts used in the jaws ensure durability and a good hold of the needle in the jaws. Thread thicknesses from 2-0 to 4-0 can be processed with this instrument.
